I’ve been making devlog videos over on YouTube now for over 2 years, cataloguing the development of my Unity-based Factory / Management game Lumbermill. The devlogs are a great way to share details of development and cover the process in a fair amount of detail, but I’ve always had to be quite selective about the technical content.
The YouTube algorithm is a tricky thing to get on your side, and I’ve found that often the more technical details of development have to be only briefly mentioned in order to keep the majority of viewers engaged. It can also be quite tricky to accompany detailed technical descriptions with video footage, so I’ve decided to start writing a more technical blog to accompany the devlog videos, for those following the game with an interest in the technical side of things.
Blog posts will be shared simultaneously here, on my personal portfolio site, and also over on lumbermillgame.com, the game’s official website. Feel free to read wherever you want, and subscribe to email notifications for when these posts go live.
Super excited to see more of the technical writeups!
